  • Attendance policy for homeschooling in NYS

    Attendance guidelines for NYS are as follows:

    Grades 1-6
    900 hours per school year; the equivalence of 180 days of instruction to be provided each year

    Grades 7-12
    990 hours per school year; the equivalence of 180 days of instruction to be provided each year

    Absences are permitted on the same basis as provided in the policy of the school district for its own students

    Records of attendance should be maintained by the parent and made available to the school district upon request

    Instruction provided at a site other than the primary residence of the parents must be provided in a building which has not been determined to be in violation of the local building code.
