The number of children being homeschooled in the United States has increased by 75% over the past 14 years. Homeschooling families today now represent a variety of economic, racial, social, educational and religious backgrounds.
Numerous studies have shown that homeschooled students, in general, score higher on standardized tests than public school students. Data also shows that homeschooled children attend four-year colleges at higher rates than public or private school students. In fact, numerous studies have shown that homeschooled kids outperform their public school peers, both academically and socially! In addition, homeschooled children: have fewer behavioral problems; have higher self-esteem; are better socialized due to spending time with adults and children of different ages; are generally more mature than public school students. Homeschooling allows parents to choose a curriculum that is tailored to their child's personality, interests and learning style. Children can also work at their own pace. A parent, relative, caregiver or tutor can oversee your child's day to day schedule and monitor their progress. Most homeschooling students spend only a few hours a day with structured learning which allows more time to spend on special projects, artistic endeavors, sports, hobbies, life skills and more.
